Hi, I’m Gina!
I am a Registered Professional Counselor Associate who is committed to working with young people and their families to provide a welcoming space for growth and empowerment. I believe that everyone has the capacity to thrive, and that it is fundamentally human to need a little help sometimes. Healing and growth happen best when we feel safe, supported, and accepted. I am here to support youth in living authentic lives through collaborative work towards their unique goals as they navigate challenges and change. It is an honor to be of service and a part of your journey!

The Professional Stuff
I have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling) from the University of Hawai’i at Hilo. I use a client-centered, integrative approach to best support clients in reaching their unique goals. I apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to overcome any unhelpful patterns. I teach Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and communication skills to nurture self-awareness and healthy interpersonal relationships. I focus on a strength-based approach, supporting clients in building their skill sets and expanding upon their natural strengths while building up confidence in areas needing additional support. Art therapy is another tool I am passionate about using when it is a good fit for the client. I want the therapeutic process to be a space for belonging, curiosity, and growth.
My interest in this work began from my own struggles as a child and teen, knowing how impactful it would have been to have a safe space and someone to talk to through navigating family and personal challenges. I find value in each of our lived experiences, and deeply believe we can all learn and grow from sharing and being curious about our different backgrounds. My philosophy is rooted in liberation psychology, acknowledging that neither trauma nor healing take place in a vacuum, but is influenced by the community and social systems around us. I emphasize cultural sensitivity, humility, and social justice. I aim to create safe and affirming therapeutic spaces for a diverse range of clients. I am passionate about working with clients navigating ADHD/neurodivergence, gender identity, PTSD/trauma, substance use, depression, and anxiety.
The Personal Stuff
I can usually be found outside, soaking up the sun and connecting with nature and the world around me. I love anything in or around water, including paddle boarding or spending a day on the river. I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, yoga, and hitting the gym. I have a passion for expressing creativity in whatever form that may take, whether it is through drawing, collaging, pressing flowers, or making lei. I am always on the hunt for new creative pursuits and finding ways to connect with friends through supportive outlets such as crafting, meal prepping, or gardening. I am a lifelong book worm and love curling up with a good book and a tasty beverage. I am a cat mom to two brothers, Monkey and Bear, who moved from Hawaii to Oregon with me - they are the absolute best to come home to after a long day! I am a lover of music as a healing tool and expressive outlet. I love a good concert (all sorts of genres) and have frequent dance parties in my kitchen, whether with friends or solo to start the day off with good energy.
