Jason Penn, MS

Hi, I’m Jason!

I am a Registered Professional Counselor Associate. I have experience working with children, teens, and young adults who struggle with areas of mental health. I was drawn to Transform Youth and Family Therapy by the shared passion and desire to help young people through difficult times in their lives. I want to give youth a voice and help them to live the life they want to live.

The Professional Stuff

I have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Southern Oregon University. The main clinical approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Other forms of therapy that I have experience with are Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I have experience working with depression and anxiety disorders, trauma-related behaviors/disorders, and substance-related behaviors/disorders. My passion is working with youth and helping those who want and need help creating a better life for themselves.

My core belief and approach to counseling is that everyone can create the changes they want in order to live a more full and fulfilling life. I believe that focusing on our individual values and accepting ourselves for who we are is an integral part of creating these changes. I believe that facing negative beliefs about ourselves and moving forward can help us heal in many different ways.

The Personal Stuff

In my free time, you can find me reading a book, learning new things on the guitar, or searching for my next favorite restaurant. I love traveling and experiencing new places, people, and cultures, and I also enjoy the peace of a quiet day at home.
